- Hey, Jeff Bender, you mumbled somthing about Re: High-end Amiga PRICES,
- PowerPC on 27-Jan-96 16:03:00?
-
- JB> Yes, people tend to compare the Amigas with $4500 IBM-built workstations,
- JB> then quote the price of a cheap, poorly-built system.
-
- Why can't PC users accept that the machines run differently. They always talk
- numbers, not very useful when comparing Amigas to PC's. For example, try a
- PC with 8mb and a my 6mb A1200. At first glance, yes, the PC has more ram.
- But look at it differently. The PC has the bare minimum to run the latest OS.
- My A1200 has 6 (12?) times the bare minimum to run 3.1. Similarly with CPU
- speeds, ever tried opening a window on a 8MB p75 in Windows'95? Gaaah! Yet on
- my 28mhz (28, that's around 1/3 "as fast" to a PC user), WB opens and closes
- windows like lightning.
-
- Kinda makes you think how bloaty PC OS's are...
